Role: Solar Surveyor
Location: North of England (Field-Based)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Freelance / Self-Employed Considered
We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Solar Surveyor to support the continued growth of our renewable energy operations across the North of England.
The successful candidate will have a strong background and knowledge in the installation and surveying of:
- Solar PV systems
- Battery storage systems
The role will involve carrying out detailed domestic and light commercial site surveys, assessing technical suitability, gathering accurate property data, and producing high-quality survey reports to support installation teams and sales operations.
Experience using OpenSolar to create solar PV system designs and proposals is highly desirable.
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel throughout the North of England.
Key Responsibilities
Site Surveys & Assessments
- Conduct detailed on-site surveys for Solar PV and battery storage installations
- Assess roof suitability, structural considerations, shading, orientation, and electrical infrastructure
- Measure and record accurate property and system data
- Identify installation constraints and provide practical technical solutions
- Complete comprehensive survey reports with photographs and technical notes
System Design & Technical Support
- It is desirable to produce Solar PV system designs using OpenSolar
- Assist with battery storage integration and system optimisation
- Support sales and operations teams with technical guidance
- Liaise with installation engineers to ensure smooth project delivery
- Ensure designs and surveys comply with current industry standards and regulations
Customer Engagement
- Professionally represent the business during customer visits
- Explain proposed systems and technical solutions clearly to homeowners and clients
- Manage customer expectations throughout the survey process
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain high professional standards
Compliance & Health & Safety
- Ensure all surveys are completed in accordance with:
- MCS standards
- Building Regulations
- Electrical safety requirements
- Health & Safety procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation and survey records
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and property layouts
- Knowledge of Solar PV system design principles
- Experience using OpenSolar or similar solar design software
- Competent with tablets, survey software, and Microsoft Office applications
Personal Attributes
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage own schedule
- Practical problem-solving approach
- Organised and reliable
Desirable Experience
- Experience with hybrid renewable systems
- Knowledge of G98/G99 processes
- Experience working within domestic retrofit environments
- Understanding of EPC improvements and energy efficiency measures
- Experience surveying both domestic and small commercial properties

Role: Business Development Manager
Location: North West
We are seeking a proactive and well-connected Business Development Manager to drive growth within the business. This role is pivotal in expanding our presence across the sector, identifying new opportunities, and supporting the successful delivery of renewable and retrofit projects.
The ideal candidate will bring an established network within the social housing and public sector, a strong commercial mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, including bid writing and delivery functions.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and execute a targeted business development strategy in line and collaboration with companies within the Earnz Plc group.
- Leverage existing relationships and build new connections to generate a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Identify, track, and qualify new leads, frameworks, and funding opportunities within the sector
- Work closely with the bid writing team to shape compelling, high-quality submissions for tenders and frameworks
- Support the preparation of bids by contributing market insights, client knowledge, and win strategies
- Attend industry events, networking forums, and stakeholder meetings to represent the business and enhance brand visibility
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government policy, funding schemes, and regulatory changes impacting the market
- Collaborate with internal delivery teams to ensure alignment between client expectations and operational capability
- Track and report on sales activity, pipeline progress, and conversion rates
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a Business Development role within the renewables, construction and retrofit sectors
- Strong, demonstrable relationships with housing associations/local authorities
- In-depth understanding of retrofit programmes (e.g. energy efficiency upgrades, decarbonisation initiatives)
- Experience working alongside bid writing teams and contributing to successful tender submissions
